Yes you read that title correctly. Yes we are crazy.
Sorry this is a short blog post but we have literally spent the entire day in the truck.
I mean for reals, this was our view for hours and hours today. Nebraska is a painfully long state to get through when you are doing the whole thing west to east. (We have done is several times before and it never gets any easier or goes by any quicker.)
We ended up leaving DJ’s sister’s house at about 9 am. We are currently about 4.5 hours from our hometown and it’s 8 pm…
We are hopeful we can get to our final destination by about 1 am tonight. We will need 1 more gas station stop tonight before we arrive.
We decided to drive the 13+ hour drive today straight through because why not burn the day fully today and get to wake up and not have to drive tomorrow?!
Plus, Amelia woke up shivering at 7 am today… I immediately gave Tylenol and ibuprofen to get ahead of her oncoming fever. She also threw up her gtube feed lunch in the car today… TBD but she likely has an ear infection. We own an otoscope and I just peaked in her left ear while she is sleeping at a gas station stop. I’m going to bet her left ear is infected (I didn’t check the right… her left ear had some discharge today, which prompted me to want to peak at it). By hauling to our final destination today, we will be able to get her in tomorrow to get some antibiotics.
That’s about it for now. I’ll post more about our evening’s arrival and an update about Amelia’s ear tomorrow!
We are currently where the blue dot is on the map below. The Google maps didn’t want to make the same map we took, which went thru Omaha like we did on the I-80, so it’s in two pieces. Covering a lot of ground today! Longest day of driving yet!
