Amelia didn’t have the best night of sleep ever last night. She was a little congested and restless. However, we ended up sleeping in this morning until 7:15 am! Definitely huge for us, as school days I’m waking Jackson up at 5:45 am to start getting ready as he leaves for his bus stop by about 6:35 am.

We did the stereotypical photo at the southern most point of the continental U.S. Unfortunately, the photo above was the last the lady behind us took for us after taking several. It was the start of the big splash/wave, so we didn’t end up with a photo showing the full effect. Oh well, you can’t win them all! Jackson got hit the hardest, and was decently wet afterwards.

BTW- Jackson thought it was hilarious. We had watched a few people get blasted by waves before it was our turn to take the photo. So, Jackson knew going in that he stood a decent chance of getting wet if he stood on the left where the others had gotten splashed.

We walked around the cutesy tourist area and got a key lime smoothie that the 3 of us shared. There were a lot of people out and about visiting the cafes and shops. The whole area is geared towards tourists with numerous super cute little resorts in the area too.

Btw- there are chickens and roosters running around like crazy down here. (Several around the bike and moped). One crossed the road right next to us and it almost seemed like it crossed the road to get away from Messi. We all got a good laugh finally figuring out why the chicken crossed the road, lol.

Unfortunately, my internet tonight is super slow for uploading photos and I don’t have the energy to be patient. I’m going to finish this post tomorrow instead.
We are headed to Naples, FL tomorrow so we can meet up with DJs cousin and family before we make our trip back home!
Alright… back to finishing the post (started again at 5:30 am… Amelia is being sassy about trying to wake up and wake everyone else up in the process).
We had blueberry breakfast grilled cheese on the Blackstone for lunch. The “cheese” is just cream cheese with powdered sugar mixed in. Definitely a favorite and super easy to make.

I mean seriously, who can complain about lunch with that view?

It’s been HOT these last few days, especially without hook-ups for the camper… meaning no AC. So, after lunch we when to the on-base splash pad. Everyone had a blast and cooled down during the heat of the day.

Messi obviously couldn’t come in, but he was more than happy to hang out in the shade tied up to this tree and watch. He has been happier than bananas all day everyday.

Amelia loved this cute little water slide at the splash bad and went down it maybe 10+ times. This splash pad has a timer button you push upon arrival, kinda like hot tubs at hotels. Super smart… the water and splash pad only run when people are there to use it. Luckily, some people were using the splash pad one of the times we drove by, so I noticed it… otherwise we wouldn’t have known it was there.

It’s hard to say who had the most fun at the splash pad, but I’m inclined to say it was Jackson. He had a lot of fun with the bigger splash areas.

Amelia got cold for a bit and she and I actually sat down after this photo below at a picnic table with her wrapped in a towel. She snuggled in for a bit and then went right back to the slide!

After the splash pad we came back to our camper and just chilled for a bit. We tried to mostly stay out of the most intense part of the day’s sun. We got the kayaks out at about 3:30 pm and enjoyed some time in the water.

We gave Amelia a floaty ride back and forth in the shallow area for awhile. Then I tried paddling with her and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

After Amelia was done, I ended up paddling with Jackson for quite awhile.

Jackson enjoyed paddling and then floating back while watching for fish. This wouldn’t have been the way I would have kayaked, but I definitely am glad he wanted to do it this way. We both saw some fish and some time out on the water together.

These two! Amelia was kinda burnt toast and Jackson jumped in on the snuggles. When Amelia wants to snuggle, you snuggle!

Dinner was lentil (vegetarian) sloppy joes. Vegetarian/Vegan cooking while camping is so much quicker, easier, and doesn’t require any fridge or freezer space. I rinsed some canned lentils and warmed up with a sloppy joe seasoning packet and some canned tomato sauce. Done!

After dinner we took a couple laps around the campground before heading to the shower.

Such a gorgeous night with the boys!

Key West, you have been fun and gorgeous! Headed to Naples next!
