Florida Spring Break 2024: Day 2

Today has been a day! Basically, the entire day has dedicated to driving. We all woke up at about 6:30 am when Amelia got up. We did breakfast and got ourselves ready. We left our campsite in Rocky Mount, NC at about 9 am.

Btw- Amelia woke up so happy to be in her camper. She switches into camping mode so quickly and easily. She just absolutely loves it! It’s familiar, cozy, and full of all her favorite things! She is always happy to be back in her camper.

You can see our site we had last night below. It was nice and quiet site on the end at a smaller KOA. Messi is getting re-adjusted back to camper life and decided to bark a bit at 11:30 pm when he heard some car doors closing. Btw- we got and tried some puppy calming/melatonin bedtime treats with him as he does get a little excited/protective about car doors at night.

Also note on Messi, he is doing a lot better about eating on this trip already. Last year’s summer trip to Colorado and then Minnesota, he didn’t want to eat. This time around, he knows the routine and is familiar enough with the whole bit that he is eating and drinking when we are in the camper, which is awesome and one less thing to worry about.

After leaving our campsite, we drove for a couple hours and got to the closest Buc-ee’s to us in Florence, NC. As it was 11:30 am, it was stupid busy with the lunch rush. We won’t be doing that again.

Jackson opted for some chicken strips and French fries. DJ got the veggie burrito. I chose to have French fries and an apple with peanut butter. We also got and tired the cream cheese kolache and a pecan bar.

Miss Amelia liked her French fries. DJ and Amelia had kinda a “cheers” moment with their fries today, which was cute and funny.

Sweet treats from Buc-ee’s (not included, their cookie dough cups). We got a peacan bar and a cream cheese kolache. We obviously had to get the roasted pecans and cashews today too!

After lunch we drove and drove and drove some more. Jackson has read his entire Loki book already!

We ended up stopping at a rest stop for some PB&J sandwiches in the camper tonight for dinner. This is one of the best things about having the camper behind us. We love being able to use it for meal times, especially with Amelia and Messi with!

FLORIDA!

We eventually made it to Florida this afternoon! I checked our camping/ road-trip map this evening and tonight will be the 20th!!! state that we are camping in overnight with Amelia’s Make-A-Wish and replacement campers!

Amelia got her evening anti-seizure meds a little bit ago. They usually don’t take too long to put her to sleep. We have about 45 minutes left until we get to our KOA nearby the Kennedy Space Center. We are headed there tomorrow for the day!

Goodnight!
