Florida Spring Break 2024: Day 1

I’ve done what seems like eleven-teen hundred hours of camper road-trip prep over the last 2.5 weeks. (I had completely gutted the camper for winter and moved everything, including mattresses, inside…. Btw- I won’t be doing that again as it’s ALOT of work to get everything back out to the camper, washed, and re-situated).

Here we are set and ready to head south!

I’m also excited to have finally purchased doubles of everything we had been toting back and forth… our Keurig coffee maker, baby video monitor, InstantPot, yoga mats, etc… Now prep work for future trips will only include clothes, food, and Amelia’s meds. Remembering everything is not something my mental capacities could handle anymore. It is also more work for me to physically tote the items back and forth. Currently I am all about streamlining things and making my own life easier. Honestly, lighten the mental and physical load when you can, where you can!

Getting doubles of items that can stay in the camper is also prep for this summer’s 3rd annual road-trip back to Minnesota for a month in July. We don’t have exact plans and dates set yet for when we will start our drive, but we should be to Litchfield for the 4th and Watercade. (We won’t be doing a Colorado side trip this summer… just straight to MN).

Amelia seemed confused when we busted her out of school 2 hours early today. She loves riding the bus to and from school. Plus, she was just about to start snack time… so it’s understandable why she was confused. We timed it out and got her from school a few minutes before Jackson got home.

Jackson normally gets home everyday at about 2:35 pm, so we made him do a full day today, just incase he had any tests today right before break.

This worked so freaking well today. Seriously. Not having Amelia around while doing the final load of the camper and house clean up (last load of laundry, cleaning out the fridge, taking out the garbage…) was so nice. We absolutely love our peanut to pieces, but getting things done while needing to keep an eye on her can be challenging, difficult, and impossible at times.

We left today just before 3 pm. The kids have from Friday after school today, March 20, 2024 off until they start back on Wednesday, April 3, 2024!

Spring break road-trip here we come!

Tonight, we are staying at a KOA near Rocky Mountain, North Carolina.

We are then Florida bound tomorrow morning and will be heading to a KOA near Kennedy Space Center tomorrow night. Tomorrow will basically just be a full day of driving.

We will be traveling to the Florida Keys, the Everglades, and visiting DJ’s cousin and family who now live in Florida before heading back home.

We are about 10-15 minutes away from our campsite. We will be in Amelia bedtime mode (she maybe asleep as she already got evening meds) and getting cozy and settled once we get there. I’ll try to remember and post a photo of our campsite tomorrow.

Goodnight and happy adventuring!
