Summer of 23 (Day 33): Minnesota – Indianapolis, IN

Happy 10th birthday to miss Amelia!

Unfortunately for miss peanut, she had to spend her whole birthday day in the truck on our drive back to Virginia.

However, Amelia was quite the happy camper today and was totally content to be in the truck. I put her new Octonauts DVD in and she had been happily watching the new episodes and playing iPad all day. No complaints here.

We woke up at my auntie and uncle’s house in SE Minnesota today. We got up and moving early and left there house by about 7:20 am.

We are now in Indiana, meaning for mileage we left Minnesota, and drove through both Iowa and Illinois today.

We are staying at the KOA on the east side of Indianapolis. It’s a “Holiday” version and has lots of fun amenities. They upgraded us, which is crazy! We are in a deluxe site with a personal gated dog area… too bad we aren’t staying here more than just to sleep. (I’ll have to grab a full-view photo of our site in the morning).

Before we got to our KOA though we had several stops for gas, potty breaks, and food. For lunch we had PB&J sandwiches in the camper while Amelia started to eat her bento on the bed. She finished the rest her lunch in the truck while driving.

For dinner, my dad and Jackson did “picky bits” aka- cheese and crackers, fruit, veggies, etc… I had a bowl of my favorite granola, the Bear Naked Cacao and Cashew Butter with oat milk. It was easy, yummy, and delicious.

Obviously we had to get Amelia French fries today. We found a gas station at about 3 pm with a Burger King next to it. I walked over and got her some fries, only to discover after starting to drive that they were super bland and probably didn’t get salted. Bummer. She didn’t seem to care, but I wouldn’t have wanted those fries as my birthday treat while road-tripping. They were underwhelming and boring. Should have waited it out and found some McDonald’s fries. Those things are addictive.

Everyone else is doing great so far with the drive. Hopefully we can get a good night of sleep tonight and have a smooth and quick drive the rest of the way home tomorrow. (We have about 9 hours of driving ahead of us tomorrow!)

Happiest 10th birthday again to my little nugget! Love you bunches!
