Summer of 23 (Day 10): Minnesota & kayaking

We had a nice slow start to our morning today. I got my YogaBurn in and DJ took a road-bike ride.

Jackson spent quite a bit of time with the kids next door who are good family friends. He even went swimming with them in their backyard pool.

I got Amelia into the doctor today to get her checked out. The doc said that she doesn’t have an ear infection… both of her ears looked like they were slightly “bulging” and could be on the mend from an ear infection healing on it’s own.

The doc also listened to her lungs and said they sounded good. Amelia was also checked for strep, and she is negative.

Amelia definitely perked up later today, so she appears to be on the mend… we are hoping it was due to a pre-packaged gtube feed that I gave her while driving instead of my normal home-made blends.

For dinner, I made my Cuban black beans and rice with fried plantains. It was yummy!

Headed to the lake!

Messi’s first time at a lake!

I took him out on the kayak for the first time. He was a little tentative at first, but got more comfortable the longer he was on it.

Jackson was up next and Messi enjoyed kayaking with him!

Next up… Amelia and DJ went in the kayak (we only grabbed the red on and left our blue one on the truck this evening).

We took Messi into Lake Ripley and got him to start swimming. Messi is such a good dog and is very willing to go with the flow. We absolutely love him and we’re so proud he swam and kayaked today.

DJ and Amelia! Amelia still LOVES to kayak!

DJ’s mom was with us and she took a turn on the kayak next.

I got another turn on my kayak (since my first turn was about 4 minutes long). DJ asked if I wanted to kayak across to a different park on the lake and get picked up there. I immediately said yes and took off. (See map, unfortunately my AppleWatch didn’t tell me my distance). It took me just over 13 minutes to get there. Next time I want to kayak from one boat landing to the other, all the way across the lake. Should be super fun!

I got picked up and DJ loaded the red kayak (AKA “Ironman”), onto the truck.

Chill evening… showers, watched some YouTube, and heading to bed super soon!
