Can you believe this is our campsite? We are LOVING it! A retired couple decided to take some of their land and turned it into this single campsite. They also live on the property, but you can’t see their house from the campsite. They have both electric and water at the site, but no sewer hook-ups. There is a short a nature trail and a hidden picnic table spot on the property. It’s quite the hidden gem of a campsite!

Last night we had our fireplace on 75° and our camper stayed nice and cozy all night, even with the temps dipping to 35°. DJ and I opted to sleep in our sleeping bags, while the kids slept with extra blankets (Jackson chose to not sleep in his sleeping bag and for safety reasons, we don’t put Amelia in one… she would likely fall on her face trying to get up out of bed). Both kids stayed warm and cozy all night. Amelia was even sassy enough to navigate herself onto the floor in front of the fireplace twice last night, lol. She knows what’s up and where it’s warmest.

We did breakfast and prepped lunch for the truck and took off for Saguaro National Park, which was about a 1/2 hour drive from where we are camping.
Saguaro is gorgeous… with its dessert landscape, numerous types of cactus, and the mountains (some with snow) in the background. It’s just fabulous.

After getting our fill of cacti, (I looked this morning, both cacti and cactuses are correct plurals of cactus) we had lunch in the truck. The boys got dropped off at the Arizona History Museum while Amelia and I took the opportunity for a break in the truck. (And I’m using the time to write most of this post). Unfortunately, Amelia seems to have caught a cold during all her interactions/goodbyes last week and has been a bit stuffy yesterday and today. The National Park was enough fresh air, sunshine, and excitement that she needed a snooze before continuing on with her day.

The boys said they enjoyed their museum visit and we over-all had a great day. We are counting today as a double field trip for Jackson’s homeschool, which I’m considering a huge win. He will have to do some reading and writing tomorrow about it while driving to New Mexico to review what he learned and document his experiences. (BTW- he thinks he is pretty cool for getting to count his day today as school and didn’t get anything else assigned).
We got back to our camper just after 3 pm. The wind has picked up a bit this afternoon and we definitely aren’t trying to over do it, especially for Amelia’s sake. This trip is definitely a marathon, not a sprint.
We are relaxing at the campsite/camper this evening and I made a vegan curry in the instant pot. The instant pot is seriously is one of my favorite things to cook in these days. The little mini BB8 3-quart one has been nice to utilize in the camper. Tonight it made the rice and then the curry, with quick releases outside.

Getting cozy now for the night and prepping a bit for tomorrow. Can you believe tonight was the first time I set up the projector since we moved in (tonight is night 5). Amelia is enjoying her Octonauts currently, and I’m assuming DJ, Jackson, and myself will likely watch something together tonight on it.
Think that’s all for tonight… tomorrow we are headed to New Mexico with potentially a stop at an Air and Space museum for the boys, as we are trying to kill a little extra time to let the wind calm down in New Mexico before we arrive.
